Why did I start almostplantbased.com?
My story, like so many successful ventures, began with a deeply personal need.
Over the years, I witnessed close family and friends struggle with lifestyle diseases, and eventually lose their fight against them. When something like this hits so close to home, it changes you. It certainly changed me.
That’s when I started questioning my own lifestyle and health. I knew I needed to make a change, and I began searching for a resource to help me transition from my regular diet to something more plant-based. But not all the way—just almost.
What I found was a world that expects you to be 100% committed from the start. I kept hearing, “Take it easy,” “Take one step at a time,” but there was no mention of an alternative lifestyle. What if I still wanted to eat fish sometimes? What if I loved lamb and couldn’t go a month without eating it?
What if I loved butter and cheese so much that I couldn’t picture living without them?
These were just random examples, but they bothered me the most. There was no room for my “what if’s.” So, I built almostplantbased.com to create a space where people could find their balance.
What is the Site about?
Almostplantbased is a resource for people curious about the impact nutrition has on their lives—to help you feel better and look better. On this blog, I share how nutrition can be linked to medical conditions and how you can actually use that information today in your own life and kitchen.
Just like my own journey, this blog supports your transition in mindset and, eventually, your lifestyle to a more plant-based regimen—but not exclusively. You’ll see that this site isn’t purely focused on a vegetarian or vegan diet. I know it’s tough to commit 100%, and we all have our own pleasures and commitments that we don’t want to—or simply can’t—give up. And why should we?
Like many of you, I’ve watched countless health and diet-related documentaries. And like you, I want to educate myself about what I can do to live a long, healthy life. I’ve educated myself about the best food options, the cleanest supplements to support my health, how to improve my sleep by protecting myself from electrosmog, and so much more.
I’ve been on this journey of constant learning and understanding how to improve my quality of life. There have been ups and downs, and I’ve learned and failed many times. If you’re just getting started or questioning your current approach, come join the almostplantbased community and read on. You can start with my Beginners Guide to a Plant Based Diet.

We started looking for a resource to transition our normal diet to a whole-foods plant-based one. Not vegetarian, not vegan… but almost.
Most sites we found expect you to be a 100% right away. You read a lot about “take it easy” and “take one step at a time” but eventually there is no mention about an alternative lifestyle.
What if I still want to eat fish sometimes, what if I love lamb and I can’t go a month without eating it?
What if I love butter and cheese so much, that I can’t picture myself living completely without them?
Random examples. And it’s what bothered us the most. There was no room for our “what if’s”. So we built almostplantbased.com
